Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Youth Job Board Canada. These terms govern your access to and use of our platform, including all content, features, and services offered.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Youth Job Board Canada ("the Platform"), and by indicating your acceptance when you create an account or make a purchase, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform. If you use the Platform on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Definitions
"Platform" refers to the Youth Job Board Canada website and related services. "Employer" refers to any individual or organization that creates an account to post job listings or otherwise uses the Platform to recruit. "Job Seeker" refers to any individual who browses or applies to job listings. "User" refers to any person who accesses the Platform, whether Employer, Job Seeker, or visitor. "Content" refers to any information, text, or media submitted to or made available through the Platform.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 15 years of age to use the Platform as a Job Seeker, and at least 18 years of age to create an Employer account. Users under the age of majority in their province should review these Terms with a parent or legal guardian. You must provide accurate and complete information, keep it current, maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials, and remain responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that are used unlawfully, or that remain inactive for an extended period.
4. Nature of the Platform; No Verification
The Platform is an online venue that allows Employers to advertise opportunities and Job Seekers to find and respond to them. We are not an employment agency, recruiter, or placement service, and we are not a party to, and have no responsibility for, any application, hiring decision, employment relationship, contract, or other dealing between Users. We do not screen, verify, endorse, or guarantee any User, Employer, posting, application, or the accuracy, legality, safety, or legitimacy of any listing or information on the Platform, and we do not guarantee any hiring or employment outcome. Any interaction or transaction you have with another User is solely at your own risk, and you are responsible for taking reasonable precautions. We encourage Users to exercise caution: never pay a fee to apply for a job, never send money to a prospective employer, and never share banking information, government identification numbers, or other sensitive personal information with a party you do not trust. If you encounter a posting or User that appears fraudulent or unsafe, please report it to us.
5. Job Postings and Employer Obligations
Employers are solely responsible for their postings and recruiting activity. By posting, an Employer represents and warrants that the posting is accurate and not misleading, that the Employer has the authority to post it, and that the posting and the Employer's hiring practices comply with all applicable laws, including human-rights, anti-discrimination, employment-standards, and labour laws. Postings must not contain discriminatory, deceptive, unlawful, or harmful content. We may edit, decline, suspend, or remove any posting or content at any time, with or without notice, and without refund, if we believe it violates these Terms or applicable law or is otherwise objectionable. We are under no obligation to monitor content but may do so.
6. Payments, Billing, and Cancellation
All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor, and by purchasing you also agree to that processor's terms. Fees are charged in advance and are non-refundable except where a refund is required by applicable law. Where a plan renews automatically, it will continue to renew until you cancel; you may cancel at any time, and cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the then-current paid period, without a refund of amounts already paid for that period. We may change our fees or offerings at any time; changes do not affect the period you have already paid for. You are responsible for any taxes associated with your use of the Platform other than taxes on our income.
7. User Content and Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of the Content you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and promote your Content as reasonably necessary to operate, provide, and market the Platform. You represent that you have the rights needed to grant this licence and that your Content does not infringe any third-party rights or violate any law. All other elements of the Platform, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and trademarks, are owned by or licensed to Youth Job Board Canada and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Platform except as expressly permitted.
8. Acceptable Use
You must not: post false, misleading, fraudulent, or unlawful information; use the Platform for any illegal purpose or in violation of any law; scrape, crawl, harvest, or otherwise collect data from the Platform without our prior written permission; use automated means to access the Platform except as expressly permitted; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data; probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Platform or circumvent any security or access control; interfere with or disrupt the Platform's operation, security, or infrastructure; impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation; upload malware or harmful code; or use the Platform to send spam or unsolicited communications. We may investigate and take appropriate action, including removing content, suspending accounts, and cooperating with authorities.
9. Third-Party Content and Links
The Platform contains Content provided by other Users and may contain links to third-party websites and services that we do not control. We are not responsible for any third-party Content, websites, products, or services, or for any loss or damage arising from your use of them. Your dealings with third parties are solely between you and the third party.
10. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Platform and all Content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that any Content is accurate, complete, lawful, or reliable. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case, our warranties are limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Youth Job Board Canada and its owners, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or opportunities, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Platform, any dealing with another User, or any Content, whether based in contract, tort, or any other theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Platform will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or fifty Canadian dollars (CAD $50). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Youth Job Board Canada and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, liabilities, damages, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your use of the Platform; your Content or postings; your conduct toward, dealings with, or hiring of any other User; your violation of these Terms or of any applicable law; or your violation of any rights of a third party. We may assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us.
13. Force Majeure
We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, epidemics, war, civil unrest, labour disputes, governmental action, power or network failures, failures or delays of third-party service providers, or Internet or hosting outages.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. You may stop using the Platform at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including those relating to intellectual property, user content licences, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution — will survive.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before commencing any formal proceeding, you agree to first contact us and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally; if it cannot be resolved within a reasonable time, the parties will consider mediation. Subject to any non-waivable rights you may have under applicable consumer-protection law, you agree that the courts located in British Columbia will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Platform. Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of mandatory laws of your province of residence or limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
16. Intellectual Property Complaints
We respect intellectual-property rights. If you believe Content on the Platform infringes your copyright or other rights, please contact us at hello@youthjobboardcanada.ca with sufficient detail to identify the Content, your rights, and your contact information. We will review and take appropriate action, which may include removing the Content or forwarding the notice in accordance with applicable law.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on the Platform and update the "Last updated" date, and we will provide additional notice of material changes where required. Your continued use of the Platform after an update takes effect indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Platform.
18. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms you agree to, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Platform and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent; we may assign them, including in connection with a corporate transaction. You consent to receive communications and notices from us electronically, and you agree that electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
