Youth Job Board Canada ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our platform. By using Youth Job Board Canada, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when creating an account, posting jobs, or contacting us. This includes your name, email address, phone number, company name, and payment information. We also collect information automatically when you use the Platform, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, and timestamps. For Employers, we collect business information necessary to process job postings, including company details and billing information. For Job Seekers, we collect profile information and application data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: provide, maintain, and improve the Platform; process transactions and send related notices; create and manage user accounts; display job postings and facilitate applications; send service-related communications, including billing reminders and posting confirmations; generate Proof of Posting certificates; respond to your requests and support inquiries; monitor and analyse usage patterns to improve user experience; and comply with legal obligations.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with: service providers who assist us in operating the Platform (such as Stripe for payment processing, Supabase for data storage, and Vercel for hosting); Employers (limited to application data submitted by Job Seekers); law enforcement or government agencies when required by law or to protect our legal rights; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers in Canada. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security audits. Payment information is processed by Stripe and never stored on our servers. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and analyse Platform usage. Essential cookies are required for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled. Analytics cookies help us understand how users interact with the Platform. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect Platform functionality.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate or incomplete information; request deletion of your personal information; withdraw consent for data processing; request a copy of your data in a portable format; and object to certain processing activities. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@youthjobboardcanada.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After account deletion, we retain certain data for up to 3 years to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Job posting data and Proof of Posting certificates are retained for 7 years for compliance purposes. Anonymous, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics.

The Platform is intended for users aged 15 and older. Job Seeker accounts require users to be at least 15 years of age, consistent with Canadian youth employment laws. Employer accounts require users to be at least 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 15. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 15, we will delete that information promptly.
