Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide essential care and support to our home to help our disabled parent. We are hiring for one position for a duration of 2 years with a possibility to be extended.
Responsibilities
- Provide care and companionship for individual during periods of incapacitation, convalescence with senior with disability
- Administer bedside and personal care to senior with disability such as aid in ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing and undressing
- Plan and may prepare meals and special diets
- May collect specimens for medical purposes.
- Feed or assist senior with disability
- May perform routine health-related duties such as changing non-sterile dressings, assisting in the administration of medications and collecting specimens based on the doctor’s instruction
- Experience with stroke rehab patients.
- Provide Companionship
Requirements
- Prior experience in caring for senior with disability
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols is a plus
- Ability to handle various caregiving tasks with empathy and professionalism
- Experience with stroke patients
- Willingness to work in private home settings
- Minimum post secondary education – Medical background preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience
- (optional) Our parent does not speak much English so Mandarin would be an asset but not mandatory
