Job Description:

Lempiala Sand & Gravel Limited has served the local construction, landscaping, and aggregate sectors for over 30 years. They specialize in supplying various grades of sand, gravel, and crushed stone for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.  They currently have an opening for an experienced and self-motivated Quality Control Technician – NOC 22302.  If you have a minimum of 2 years prior related experience, the following skills and would like to be part of a great team, apply today.

Job Duties and Skills Requirements:

·         Perform laboratory and field tests of soils (including proctor density and optimum moisture tests), aggregates (including wash pass, sieve analysis of coarse and fine aggregates, percent crushed, asphalt coated particles, contamination, flat and elongated particle) and various construction materials

·         Grade and label raw materials or finished products according to size, thickness, composition or other classification standards

·         Take samples of products during or after processing operation for routine laboratory test and analysis or for subsequent laboratory analysis

·         Complete product testing for strength, density, durability and conformance to specifications in accordance with MTO, OPSS, City of Thunder Bay, CCIL, and ASTM standards and procedures

·         Advise and coordinate with management and field staff regarding testing results and communicate problems and product deficiencies

·         Undertake routine lab inspections and certification testing and accurately complete reports and record testing results in internal testing databases and materials charting files for various aggregate sources

·         Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with all company manuals and procedures 

·         Knowledge of various aggregate types and products

·         Proficiency with math and Microsoft Office product suite is a requirement

·         Ability to lift and manipulate 50lb material samples 

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and work independently

·         Valid driver’s license
