Work Locations: Various job sites across urban and rural Ottawa and Gatineau and surrounding.

Hours: 30 to 50 hours per week
Schedule: Early morning, Day, Evening, Shift, Weekend
Overtime: May be required. Must be able to work early morning and be available if needed for longer days and weekends to meet timelines.

Safety Credentials Required: In compliance with Ontario Ministry of Labour health and safety laws, valid Working at Heights and WHMIS certificates are strict requirements to begin field operations on our active job sites. Candidates must hold these credentials prior to their first day of work. The employer is prepared to coordinate and assist qualified applicants in scheduling renewal courses if their safety credentials have recently expired. Silica Awareness Training is preferred.
Transportation: Job sites vary and are frequently located in rural areas where public transportation is not available. Candidates must have a reliable means of reporting to varying, non-transit-accessible job sites on time.
Main Responsibilities & Tasks
Under the direction of the site supervisor, you will perform physical laboring activities to assist skilled tradespersons on residential and commercial masonry and construction sites:
Support masons with use of tools, mixing, cleaning sites, setting up and dismantling scaffolding.
Load, unload, and transport construction materials, including heavy concrete mix bags, across the job site.
Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades.
Mix, pour, and spread building materials such as concrete and mortar.
Clean, sort, and pile salvaged materials and brickwork.
Remove rubble, debris, and other clean-up materials at construction sites using shovels, wheelbarrows, and site tools.
Tend or feed machines and equipment used on-site (concrete mixers, compressors, and grinders).
Job Requirements
Education: High School completion
Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a physically demanding, manual labour role is required
Languages: Functional English is required to understand vital site safety instructions.
Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, working under pressure, repetitive tasks, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
Weight Handling and PPE: Must be physically capable of repeatedly lifting and moving heavy construction materials weighing up to 45 kg (100 lbs) utilizing proper lifting techniques. Physically demanding roles, required to lift heavy concrete and mortar bags, mix materials and carry materials to masons. May be required to wear PPE (protective equipment) in hot climates.
Personal Suitability: Dependability, flexibility, team player, hardworking, and accurate.
Tools Required: Steel-toed safety boots and a hard hat.
