Tasks

• Operate truck and trailers safely under all weather and road conditions across Canada, including snow, ice, high winds, reduced visibility, and mountainous terrain, adjusting driving technique for both refrigerated and dry goods loads

• Operate LCV combinations (one truck with two trailers) on long-haul routes across Canada, including extended-distance and night driving to meet delivery schedules

• Load and unload heavy and general freight from both trailers, including positioning, hooking/unhooking, and maneuvering LCV equipment as required

• Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailers, including tires, lights, brakes, coupling systems, and safety equipment, with added vigilance during night and long-haul driving conditions

• Ensure cargo—including heavy goods—is properly secured and distributed across both trailers, complying with national and provincial transportation and safety regulations

• Verify reefer unit operation before loading (temperature settings, fuel, alarms, airflow) and set/monitor trailer temperature per product requirements throughout the trip

• Ensure trailer is clean, dry, and suitable for food transport prior to loading, preventing contamination

• Exercise added caution on mountainous routes with dry goods loads, accounting for load shift, grade, and braking distance

• Communicate with dispatchers, clients, and other drivers regarding routes, delivery schedules, delays, and transportation requirements
