Compassionate In- Home Senior Care
A family in West Vancouver, British Columbia is looking for a caring, patient, and reliable Live-Out Home Support Worker / Elderly Caregiver to provide care for a senior over 65 years old who has Parkinson's disease and is receiving palliative care at home.
The senior requires assistance with daily activities, personal care, mobility support, meal preparation, medication reminders, and companionship. The successful candidate will help ensure the client's comfort, safety, dignity, and quality of life while allowing them to remain in their home environment.
This is a live-out position. However, optional accommodation is available at no cost to the caregiver if desired. Accepting the accommodation is completely voluntary and is not a condition of employment.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and committed to providing respectful and quality care to seniors.
Duties:
-Help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
-Assist with walking, moving around the home, and preventing falls.
-Help with toileting and other daily care needs.
-Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks.
-Help with feeding if needed.
-Provide companionship and emotional support.
-Assist with medication administration as directed by family members and healthcare professionals.
-Observe and report changes in the client’s physical, emotional, or cognitive condition to family members.
-Help keep the client comfortable and safe.
-Accompany the client to medical appointments if needed.
-Do light housekeeping related to the client's care, including:
-Laundry
-Changing bed linens
-Cleaning the client's room and living area
-Meal preparation
-Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
Requirements
• Completion of high school.
• At least 1 year of paid caregiving experience.
• Experience caring for seniors, including individuals with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or other medical conditions, is an asset.
• First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
• Able to communicate effectively in English.
• Physically able to assist with mobility transfers, and daily care activities
• Kind, patient, dependable, and trustworthy.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
