A private household in Halifax, Nova Scotia is seeking a reliable and caring Home Child Care Provider to provide full time care for two young children.
Responsibilities include supervising the children and ensuring their safety and well being, assisting with feeding, bathing, dressing, diapering and toilet training, preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks, sterilizing bottles and preparing formula when required, and maintaining consistent daily routines.
The caregiver will plan and participate in age appropriate educational and recreational activities such as reading, games, crafts and outdoor play. Duties also include taking the children to and from activities or appointments when required, maintaining a safe and healthy home environment, washing and pressing clothing and household linens, and performing light housekeeping duties related to the children and their care areas.
The successful applicant must be patient, dependable, organized, attentive and able to communicate effectively in English. The applicant must have at least one year of relevant childcare experience, including experience caring for babies or young children.
Youth between the ages of 15 and 30 who are legally entitled to work in Canada are encouraged to apply. Applications are welcomed from Canadian citizens, permanent residents and other individuals who are legally authorized to work in Canada.
Optional furnished accommodation is available at no cost to the employee. The live in arrangement is entirely voluntary and is not a condition of employment.
The employer will not charge or recover any recruitment fees from the successful applicant.
Requirements
Minimum one year of childcare experience, including experience caring for babies or young children. Experience with feeding, bathing, dressing, diapering, toilet training, meal preparation and age appropriate activities is required. The applicant must be reliable, patient, organized and able to work independently. English communication skills are required for understanding instructions, communicating about the children’s needs and responding appropriately in an emergency. References from previous childcare related employment and a criminal record check will be required.
