2 years to less than 3 years or completion of a three- or four-year apprenticeship program in drywalling.

Responsibilities

Tasks

• Trim and install metal corner beads to reinforce and protect exposed corners.

• Fill joints, screw/nail indentations, holes, and cracks using joint compound applied with trowels and broad knives.

• Apply tape to seams and joints between drywall sheets, followed by multiple layers of joint compound to create smooth, invisible transitions.

• Sand-dried joint compound surfaces to ensure walls and ceilings are smooth and ready for painting or texturing.

• Create various finishing textures according to project requirements using hand tools or spray equipment.

• Repair dents, holes, cracks, and other imperfections in drywall surfaces and restore them to a smooth, finished condition.

• Apply additional coats of compound as needed and sand all seams and joints to a finished, smooth surface.
